Dental Surgeon
Tim qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the Royal London Dental School at the Queen Mary University in London in 2014. Previous to training as a dentist, he had a successful career in pharmaceutical research, but wanted to move back to his native South Hams, and dentistry was an excellent way to combine his passion for biomedical sciences and healthcare and our beautiful local area and its people. He maintains a keen academic interest and splits his time between clinical practice and educating the next generation of dentists and dental therapists at the Peninsula Dental School in Plymouth. He has acquired a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education and is an associate fellow of the Higher Education Authority. Tim brings this educational approach into the surgery, and aims to use a strong evidence base and clear explanation to fully inform his patients about their dental needs and treatment options. He is resolutely a general dentist who aims above all to provide comfort and good oral health and function for his patients and likes to really get to know them and tailor their treatment plans to balance their needs and wishes. Tim is also a member of various study groups including Dentinal Tubules (as a study club director) and the Devon Independent Practitioners Group. In his spare time, Tim is an avid sports fan, motorbike rider and dog lover, and lives in Thurlestone with his wife Michelle and his cockapoo Bodhi, where he enjoys cooking (and eating!), gardening and trail running.
