Implants
We are now able to offer dental implants. Our skilled dental surgeon Aleks undertakes all of our implants. Aleks has a Post Graduate Diploma (Imolant) and an MSc (Implant and Oral Surgery) and is able to advise on all matters relating to implantology.
What are implants?
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of biocompatible materials such as titanium. They are surgically placed into the jawbone beneath the gum line to provide a sturdy foundation for replacement teeth.
How do they work?
Once placed in the jawbone, dental implants gradually fuse with the surrounding bone through a process called osseointegration. This integration creates a strong and stable base for dental restorations, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures, to be attached.
Benefits of dental implants:
- Natural Appearance: Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, providing a seamless smile.
- Improved Oral Health: Unlike traditional tooth-supported bridges, implants don't require adjacent teeth to be altered or trimmed, preserving more of your natural teeth.
- Durability: With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, making them a long-term solution for tooth replacement.
- Enhanced Functionality: Implants restore the ability to bite and chew comfortably, allowing you to enjoy your favourite foods without restrictions.
Our process
1. Consultation: Your dentist will evaluate your oral health and determine if you're a candidate for dental implants.
2. Implant Placement: The implant is surgically placed into the jawbone during a minor surgical procedure.
3. Healing Period: Osseointegration occurs over several months as the implant integrates with the jawbone.
4. Abutment Placement: Once the implant has fused with the bone, an abutment is attached to the implant to connect the restoration.
5. Restoration: A custom-made dental crown, bridge, or denture is securely attached to the abutment, completing the restoration.
How much does it cost?
Implants at Dartmouth Dental start from £2400 however, the cost of dental implants can vary depending on factors such as the number of implants needed, the complexity of the case, and any additional procedures required, such as bone grafting.
While implants may have a higher upfront cost compared to other tooth replacement options, they are often considered a worthwhile investment due to their longevity and benefits.
